Abstract
IPTM is the active ingredient of a Chinese herbal medicine. In this study, we should investigate melanogenesis inhibition and cytotoxicity of IPTM on mouse melanoma B16F10 cells. The cytotoxicity was measured by MTT (tetrazolium salt 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide) assay. The melanogenesis inhibitory activity of IPTM was dominant than arbutin at 100ug/ml. There was no cell cytotoxicity at test concentrations. Franz diffusion cell was used to measure the percutaneous absorption on pig ear skin. The penetration to basal layer was confirmed by confocal microscope. This study suggests that IPTM may be useful as melanogenesis inhibition agent and whitening agent in human skin.
